This low-maintenance beauty will add texture and interest to your home

Why will I love it?
Ficus elastica “Tineke” is a prime example of how nature inspires fashion. The foliage is characterised by mottled variegation, which illustrates one of nature’s perfect colour combinations: the camouflage-like creamy pink with pale and dark green. Indoors, it will stand proud at almost a metre tall, adding texture and interest to any home or office.

Light or shade?
Bright, indirect light.

Where should I put it?
On a plant stand in a sunny living room.

How do I keep it alive?
Being variegated, this plant must have bright indirect light; if kept in the shade, it will lose its super-attractive markings. As with most rubber plants, the “Tineke” is easy to maintain and a good air purifier. Water little and often, but allow the soil to dry out slightly before watering.

Did you know …
When the leaves are newly emerging, they are folded into a cone-like shape and burgundy in colour, but this slowly fades as they mature. The plant can grow up to 30 metres tall in its natural habitat.
