Casting Roundup: Anthony Mackie to Play MLK; Once Upon a Time Finds King Arthur

ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” has found its King Arthur in British actor Liam Garrigan, Entertainment Weekly reports. He’ll first appear in the season five premiere and will recur throughout the year.

“As we do on ‘Once Upon a Time,’ we’re doing our own twist on Camelot, on Arthur’s background and on his relationships with Merlin, Guinevere and Lancelot,” executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis told EW. Lancelot (Sinqua Walls) debuted on the series in season two, and will return in season five. The role of Guinevere has yet to be cast.

In other casting news:

“Captain America: Civil War” star Anthony Mackie will play Martin Luther King Jr. opposite Bryan Cranston’s Lyndon B. Johnson in the HBO telepic “All the Way,” according to Variety sister site Deadline. Jay Roach is directing the TV adaptation of the Robert Schenkkan play, which earned Cranston a Tony for his role as the 36th President of the United States.

Starz’s “Outlander” has cast Frances de la Tour as Mother Hildegard for the second season of the time-traveling drama. In the sophomore season, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) befriends and wins the respect of respect of Mother Hildegarde, an intelligent and commanding Mother Superior, while volunteering at L’Hopital Des Anges.
