Earth Touch will launch series internationally at Mipcom
The Smithsonian Channel is taking viewers to Yellowstone in a new 4K blue-chip documentary about the famous U.S. national park.
Producer and distributor Earth Touch has landed the international rights to four-part series “Epic Yellowstone,” and will launch it internationally at Mipcom next week. Grizzly Creek Films is making the series, a major documentary project filming over two years, for Smithsonian, which will launch it in 2019.
The series tells the story of the world’s first national park using aerial footage, and through the eyes of its iconic predators and wildlife. Episodes follow Yellowstone’s grizzlies, the Yellowstone River through the seasons, the park’s bird life, and its harsh winter.
“‘Epic Yellowstone’ is stunningly filmed, using the latest 4K/UHD cameras, drone cinematography and extraordinary time lapses,” said David Royle, executive vice president, programming and production, Smithsonian Channel. “We are capturing never-before-seen animal behavior, moments of jaw-dropping beauty, and life-and-death dramas.”
